With the holidays just a couple of weeks out and the new year fast approaching, there are the inevitable “top n” lists for wines. In the case of the Wine Spectator and the San Francisco Chronicle, n=100; the latest posted by the Chronicle yesterday.

In glancing through the list, I have to say it seems a bit more balanced than the Spectator’s, even listing some Zinfandel like Ridge Lytton Springs, but that is to be expected in a field of just West Coast wines (CA, OR, WA and ID only). There seems to be many more value wines in the $30 and under range which makes for good bargain hunting and several ideas for wines to taste and blog/podcast here.
