It all came about when a long-ago baker tried a different way to make cookies - and instead tapped into a chocolate goldmine. The brownie, which nearly 80 percent of Americans eat, has fairly humble beginnings. Some say it was a chocolate cake that fell and got served anyway. Others say its name was borne of its creator, a woman named, you guessed it: Brownie. Food historians say the brownie was first mentioned in Fannie Farmer's 1905 Boston Cooking School Cook Book, which was a version of an earlier recipe for cookies.

Cooking With Kira: Lemon Pound Cake. The delightful first episode of Cooking With Kira, where Kira teaches how to conjur up a lemon pound cake. First we have to pre-heat the oven. Now you have to grease and flour your pan. Next we have to measure the ingredients into one large bowl. Next measure 2 and a quarter cups flour. Now you add two cups of sugar. You can sneak a little sugar if you want. Now add three eggs. Be careful not to get the shells. Now one teaspoon of vanilla. Now add your eight ounce container of yogurt. Add a half teaspoon of baking soda and a half teaspoon of salt.
